It’s summertime in Myrtle Beach and that means tons of outdoor activities and fun family events for you to enjoy during your vacation to the Grand Strand. Whether you are looking to temporarily escape the heat or to be amazed by breathtaking fireworks, Myrtle Beach has it all and Beach Colony’s convenient location means you are close to all the action. Check out our list of events that you and your family can enjoy during the month of July:
Hot Summer Nights – Every Day, all summer
“Hot Summer Nights” is a fun, family friendly promotion hosted by the Myrtle Beach Boardwalk. Venture downtown to the newly renovated boardwalk during any night of the week to enjoy a variety of festivities. Monday night is the kid’s carnival, Wednesday night features a spectacular oceanfront fireworks show, and other nights offer free open air concerts by the sea and other street entertainment. You can also enjoy dinner at one of the boardwalk’s many restaurants or grab some souvenirs at one of the boardwalk beach shops. Check the Myrtle Beach Boardwalk website for more information.
Free Fireworks at Marsh Walk – Mondays, all summer
If you are looking to explore something different, head down to the Marsh Walk in Murrells Inlet. Known for being the seafood capital of the state, Murrells Inlet offers the most succulent seafood around. The Marsh Walk features several oceanfront restaurants all connected by an inlet front boardwalk that opens up to Crazy Sister Marina and the famous Veteran’s Pier. Grab a bite at one of the Marsh Walk restaurants and stick around for a free fireworks show Monday nights.
Pelican’s Baseball – Various Dates, all summer
Nothing screams “Summer!” quite like baseball and you can enjoy this American pastime anytime during your vacation. The Pelicans began their season earlier this spring and play several times a week at the TicketReturn.com field at Broadway at The Beach. The Pelicans host several promotions throughout the week, like Wiener Wednesday and Thirsty Thursday, in addition to providing entertainment in between innings. For the grand finale, the Pelicans put on a spectacular fireworks show once a week at the end of a series, something you will surely want to stick around for. Free Movies at Market Common – Tuesdays & Wednesdays, all summer
Head to Market Common for both an indoor and outdoor movie experience, free of charge! On Tuesdays, Market Common hosts a free family friendly movie at 10am at their indoor movie theater. The movies are very kid friendly and are perfect for the younger ones in the group. They also have $1 popcorn and drinks for sale. For a late night flick, head to Valor Park at Market Common on Wednesday evenings to enjoy a free movie under the stars. These movies are accompanied by local vendors that sell snacks and beverages for you to enjoy during the screening. Visit the Market Common website for more information.
Fiesta Night at Children’s Museum of SC – July 19th, 5pm-7pm
For interactive fun for the little ones, check out Fiesta Night at the Children’s Museum of South Carolina. Located in the heart of Myrtle Beach, the Children’s Museum offers a variety of hands on exhibits that introduce children to a variety of topics, like math, science, and art. During Fiesta Night, kids will have a chance to make their own maracas, dance to the Macarena, and embrace Hispanic culture through games and activities. The event is July 19th from 7-9pm and is only $1 per person 2 years and older.
Beach Music Festival – July 20th, 5:30pm-10:30pm
Come celebrate Myrtle Beach’s 75th anniversary with a grand event on Ocean Boulevard. Enjoy free music in the afternoon and evening with special appearances from TLC’s own “D.C. Cupcake” sisters. The sisters will attempt a world record cupcake construction with over 7,500 of their mouthwatering cupcakes. After their record attempt, enjoy free cupcakes and the chance to meet the TLC stars. This grand event is Saturday, July 20th from 5:30-10:30 pm and is totally free!
The Salt Games – July 21st, 9am-11pm
The Salt Games is an all-day festival held on Saturday, July 21st, hosting an array of exciting beach games and competitions. Events will run throughout the day and will range from silly, family fun events to serious competitions. Participate in events like paddleboard races, beach volleyball contests, and the original “sea salt margarita” challenge. Kids can enjoy other activities like getting their face painted or getting a caricature done. The evening will end with free live music and entertainment.
