Top Fall Events in Myrtle Beach
Are you planning a fall beach getaway? If so, you will surely not find yourself short on things to do! Thought the “prime” summer season is slowly winding down, Myrtle Beach shows no signs on going into hibernation. Fall is actually the ideal season for events, with agreeable weather and fewer crowds. Check out some of these “must do” events for your fall beach trip:
Beach, Boogie, & BBQ – August 29th – 30th
If you are lucky enough to have Labor Day plans in Myrtle Beach, the Beach, Boogie, and BBQ Festival is an absolute “must”! This annual Labor Day weekend event is a favorite among visitors and locals alike and is the only official BBQ championship in the state. Come out to get your fill of succulent wings, fall-off-the-bone tender ribs, smoky pulled pork, and plenty of signature sauce concoctions. In addition to fantastic, finger-licking food, this festival will feature games and competitions (including a wing eating contest and corn hole tournament), kids’ activities, live entertainment, local arts and crafts vendors, and a large beer garden for the adults. The fun runs from 6pm – 10pm on Friday and 12pm – 10 pm on Saturday at Market Common.
Oktoberfest – October 3rd – 5th
Dust off those lederhosen and head down to Market Common during the first weekend of October to take part in this annual Oktoberfest tradition! This lively event will feature all of your favorite Oktoberfest traditions including authentic cuisine, live entertainment, and plenty of tasty beer. Where else in Myrtle Beach can you get your fill of fresh soft pretzels, bratwurst, spaetzle, wiener schnitzel, and hot streudel? There will also be local art vendors and plenty of activities for the little ones. Hours for the festival are 4pm – 9pm on Friday, 11am – 9pm on Saturday, and 12pm – 7pm on Sunday.
Festa Italiana – October 10th – 12th
Grab your family and get out and enjoy the beautiful fall weather at the Italian Heritage Festival, a Broadway at the Beach tradition. This bustling event will feature live Italian entertainment starring “Bobby Valli sings Frankie Valli”, arts and crafts vendors, children’s activities, and an Italian car show with Ferraris, Maseratis, and much more. Of course, it wouldn’t be a true tribute to Italy without food and wine! Dine on all of your classic favorites like homemade ravioli, meat ball heros, sausages with peppers and onions, Italian style pizza, and plenty of desserts like cannolis, tiramisu, and zeppolis – just like mama used to make. This event is fun for the whole family! Times for this festival are 5pm – 9pm on Friday, 12pm – 8pm on Saturday, and 12pm – 6pm on Sunday.
Art in the Park – October 11th – 12th
Art in the Park is a semi-annual event and 2014 marks the 42nd consecutive year for celebrating local art and entertainment. Vendors from across the nation flock to the beach each season to showcase their finest offerings. Genres range from handmade jewelry, baskets, and clothing to ceramics, paintings, pottery, photography, metal work, and much more. These events are hosted by the Waccamaw arts & crafts guild, a non-profit local organization that promotes fine arts within the community. Art in the Park is free to attend and runs from 10am – 4pm on Saturday and Sunday at Chapin Park.
Taste of the Town – October 21st
Often touted as “The Grand Strand’s Premier Culinary Social Event”, the annual Taste of the Town celebration is surely one that you won’t want to miss! This tasty festival features top notch tapas style offerings from more than 50 local restaurants including Coccadotts Cake Shop, Bovine’s Wood Fired Specialties, Burro Loco, and Crady’s on Main – to name a few. In addition, there will be a spacious Kids Zone full of family friendly fun, live entertainment from popular local performers, and a beer and wine garden for the adults. This event runs from 4pm – 10pm at the Myrtle Beach convention center and tickets may be purchased in advance or the day of.
